PHOENIX – During a triumphant speech one day after his impeachment acquittal, President Donald Trump gave shout-outs to a pair of Arizona congressional loyalists Thursday.

Trump attacked the Democrats for their failed attempt to remove him from office and thanked a long laundry list of his staunchest supporters by name, including Rep. Debbie Lesko and Rep. Andy Biggs, while speaking from the White House.

First, Trump addressed Biggs, who stood briefly after the president acknowledged him.

“There’s a guy, he’s tough,” Trump said of Biggs, who represents the East Valley. “I hear we’re doing well in Arizona.”

Biggs shared video of the moment on Twitter and said it was an “honor to defend” the president.

Trump later heaped praise upon Lesko, whose district is mainly in the West Valley, and asked her to stand for applause.

“Arizona loves her,” the president said. “But you are so incredible representing – I don’t say me – representing our country and getting it out of this impeachment hoax. What you did was incredible.”

Lesko, who was one of eight House Republicans selected to work on Trump’s impeachment team, tweeted her thanks along with a video clip of the moment.

Fellow Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar noted Trump’s accolades for Lesko, saying on Twitter he was “proud of her and her work.”

We want to hear from you.
