MEGHA BOD

Meghan Markle’s fitness secrets revealed – from six-mile runs, to candlelit yoga and hempseed stew

Obviously Meghan Markle captured Prince Harry’s heart because she’s smart, talented and an inspiring humanitarian.

But let’s face it – the Suits star also has a killer bod.

Meghan is a big fan of sharing her health and fitness routines on Insta and used to run wellness blog The Tig.

But it turns out she’s just like the rest of us when it comes to struggling to get to the gym.

“Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely dreadful, but I always remind myself of how good it will feel afterward. Euphoric, almost!” she has said.

As the countdown to her wedding day begins, we look at how the future duchess likes to stay in shape.

The gun salute

Meghan’s strong, sculpted arms are all down to her love of yoga, which she’s been doing since she was just seven years old.

My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood,” she said.

“There are so many benefits that come with [yoga] – increased flexibility and muscle strength, greater happiness, increased mental focus, a greater ability to relax, decreased anxiety and better sleep.”

Not to mention those guns!

“I love an intense vinyasa class – and even better if it’s blasting hip hop and done in a dark room with candlelight.

"The best! I’ll do yoga a couple of times a week – hot yoga specifically.”

Poses like downward dog and bakasana (crow pose) are best for building upper-body strength, and Meghan recently posted a video of her on-set workouts, which featured many a side plank.

Her royal thighness

Nobody rocks a pair of denim cut-offs like Meghan, and her princess-perfect pins are probably because one of her favourite exercises is a six-mile run.

“Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head,” she’s said.

“I love to jog, although as I’ve gotten older running has become hard on my knees, so I can’t run outside the way I used to.

"But I’m still planning to run a marathon! If I don’t have time for a long workout, I’ll grab my dog and go for a quick run.”

She also likes the regular kind of meditation, too.

“On days I don’t make it to my [yoga] mat, I always make some time to meditate.

"I was sceptical for years, but it truly does wonders!”

Booty-full bride

When her own bum is this show-stealing, Meghan won’t be worrying about Pippa upstaging her

at her wedding.

She hones her glutes at the supermodels’ favourite workout The Skinny Bitch Collective, founded by trainer Russell Bateman.

This cult, invite-only class of lunges, squats and, er, crawling on the floor, is known for giving you a bum peachier than a peach emoji.

“My friend Millie Mackintosh raves about Russell’s workouts, so I’ll call her up to do a class together,” Meghan has said.

Core-some tum

The future duchess is also a big fan of US-based class Pilates Platinum, which reinvents the stretching of a reformer Pilates machine into a cardio and strength-training workout.

A 55-minute class can burn 700 calories and gives you abs you’ll want to show off in a crop top.

“It’s the instant way to get your body aligned and looking toned,” said Meghan.

She also swears by the core-toning exercises on personal trainer Tracy Anderson’s workout DVDs, loved by Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.

“I’ve been doing them for six years now and I just find the results are great,” she’s said.

“I can do 15-minute increments in my trailer on-set, and at the end of the day you’ve had a full workout.”
