It comes after medical staff told of going through hell — with PPE causing blisters, blotches, red marks and peeling skin.

The Sun wanted to do what it could to alleviate the physical toll of the equipment.

To do so, we joined forces with We C U 2020, an initiative launched a month ago by Fabulous magazine’s former Beauty Editor, Lauren Ezekiel.

How you can get involved

WE would love to hear from you – but we have only limited stock, so won’t be able to fulfil all requests.

If you work for a brand that can donate, please email beautydrop@fabulous mag.co.uk.

If you are an NHS worker and would like to request a goody bag for colleagues, please email carepackages@fabulousmag.co.uk.

The organisation had already collected vast quantities of products from lip balm to deodorant and distributed them to 25 hospitals across London and the South East.

Katie Field, 29, a rehab and healthcare assistant at Goodmayes Hospital, Essex, said: “We wash our hands about 100 times a day. Our lips and hands are so dry and sore and they sting."

After reaching out to the initiative, Katie was delighted to receive 150 bags to share with her colleagues.

“I was in tears when I opened my care package,” she says. “It helps morale. This stuff is so useful to us and it makes such a huge difference. Everyone’s so grateful.”

Our campaign is backed by the Royal Society for Public Health. Its Deputy Chief Executive, Duncan Stephenson says: “This initiative is not only a great way to show appreciation for those working tirelessly at the frontline of this crisis and putting their own health and wellbeing at risk to help others, but also provides our national heroes with a self-care package so that they can protect their own health and wellbeing under such physically and mentally demanding circumstances.”

Brands to pledge so far

L’Occitane, Tracie Giles, Bayliss & Harding, Mitchum, Elizabeth Arden, Percy & Reed, British Airways, Hawaiian Tropic, BuBu Skincare, Tan-Luxe, Guava & Gold, Curaprox, OGX, Institut Esthederm, Molton Brown, Dove, Lynx, Impulse, Toni & Guy, Ted Baker, 7th Heaven, Dr. Hauschka, Fudge Professional, Palmer’s and Polished London.
