REAL Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice has said she's very "happy" her ex husband Joe Giudice rescued a dog.

Joe rescued the German Shepherd called Luna and was keeping her in a specially built cage outside his home in Italy.

The reality star gave fans a tour of Luna's digs which included plenty of water, a marble slab for her to lie on to keep her cool and plenty of space for her to move around.

Joe captioned the video: "Happy 🐕 happy life! Luna loves her 🏰"

Teresa could see her ex was enamored with his new pet and also commented on the post.

She wrote: "So happy you found Luna."

Teresa's comment was posted on an Instagram video of Joe defending Luna's living conditions.

Her ex took to Instagram to show fans that Luna was very well looked after, following criticism he was keeping her in a dirty cage.

Joe, who was deported to his native Italy, told fans he made a new dog friend in an Instagram video in April.

He said: “I made friends with the dog that barks all day now I take her for walks so she doesn’t bark all the time. I got a new friend, right Luna? She used to scare me before but now we’re friends.”

He captioned the video: “During this time, we can help rescue dogs. No better love than four legged.”

The sweet gesture comes after a series of heart breaks for Joe.

His former partner Teresa's brother revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in early April that her divorce from Joe is nearly complete.

A day later, Teresa’s father, Giacinto Gorga, passed away at age 76.

While Joe was unable to attend services because of the deportation, he posted tributes on social media.

Then later in the month is federal deportation appeal was recently denied and reality star must stay abroad.

The RHONJ husband was transferred to ICE detention center after serving a 41-month sentence for fraud in March 2019.

He was released from ICE that October and deported to Italy.

To make matters worse Joe revealed his four daughters with Teresa, Gia, 19, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10, were supposed to visit for Easter.

Because of coronavirus, their daughters were unable to go on the trip.

It was clear his daughters were also missing him very much, with Gia getting a tattoo in honor of her deported, felon father.

Gia told a fan who asked her if she got a tattoo: "Yes, I do ... me and my dad got one together. I have a little bird and he has the eagle on his chest.

"Just means we can fly to each other whenever we want and we are always a flight away ...also resembles rising to heaven for my grandparents."

Back in March, Joe, 47, got an eagle-tattoo on his chest in honor of his four daughters.
