GOOD Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 59-year-old announced his diagnosis on the ABC show on Monday - two weeks after his wife, author Ali Wentworth, contracted the deadly virus.

George - who shares two daughters with Ali - has been caring for her throughout her battle with coronavirus.

He said it was "no surprise" that he'd caught the virus, but insisted he's "feeling great" and has no symptoms unlike his wife.

The presenter said: "I learned over the weekend that my test came back positive which is no surprise given the fact that I've been here for a couple of weeks.

"I'm one of those cases that are asymptomatic - I’ve never had a fever, never had chills, never had a headache, never had a cough, never had shortness of breath."

He added: "I’m feeling great."

ABC revealed the veteran news reporter will continue anchoring Good Morning America from his home and wished him a "healthy and speedy recovery."

George's announcement comes a week after the death of GMA cameraman Tony Greer from coronavirus.

Tony, who Robin Roberts described as a "bright light" passed away due to complications with the virus.

George also gave an update on Ali's health, telling viewers: "She's doing much, much better.

"She's slowly getting out of bed a little more, so we're really happy about that."

Ali, 55, confirmed on March 31 that she had tested positive for the coronavirus and has "never been sicker."

Taking to Instagram, Ali shared a selfie of herself in bed alongside her dog to showcase how ill she was.

Looking downcast in the shot, she wrote in the caption: "I have tested positive for the coronavirus.

"I've never been sicker. High fever. Horrific body aches. Heavy chest. I'm quarantined from my family.

"This is pure misery."

The Jerry Maguire star received a flood of well wishes from her famous friends as they shared their support under the post.

Bravo broadcaster Andy Cohen, who recently recovered from COVID-19, commented: "I am so sorry honey.

"Tylenol, Vitamin C, Pulse Oxymeter to measure your oxy intake to lungs."

Sarah Jessica Parker. shared: "No. Oh Ali, I'm so, so sorry. So sorry.

"I'm sure you are in good hands but sending love. Xxx."

Reese Witherspoon said: "Oh Ali !! I’m so so sorry. Please rest and feel better. Sending you all my love xxx".

While Julianne Moore wrote: "Oh no. I’m so sorry."

Amy Schumer added: "This ain’t right."

George revealed a day before her diagnosis that he was broadcasting from their home after she began to develop symptoms of COVID-19.

The Love Bug star has been sharing photos from her time in quarantine, including one post that explained her reasons for isolating.

"#istayhome for my parents, my in-laws, and all the health workers around the globe!" she shared after being tagged by Julia Roberts to take part in the viral campaign.
