BROADWAY star Nick Cordero has woken from his medically-induced coma as he continues to battle the coronavirus.
The Tony Award-nominated actor for Bullets over Broadway has been in the ICU since late March, but his wife Amanda Kloots has ecstatically revealed he is "awake" but "super weak."
Nick had suffered complications from the illness which forced doctors to amputate his right leg because of blood clots.
“Nick, Dada, is awake! Yay!!" shared Amanda.
Amanda posted several videos on Instagram dancing with their ten-month-old son Elvis, unable to keep a big smile off her face, as she added: "Dada is awake. He is awake guys. Nick is so weak right now so even opening his eyes and closing his eyes take all of his energy but Dada is awake. Woo hoo!"
The news comes hours after it was revealed he had started "following doctor's commands."
Amanda shared on Instagram that Nick's progress is a “huge, big, huge deal.”
She said: “He is very, very, very weak still so it is very slow progress when they ask him to do things, but you can see he is trying, which is awesome.”
She went on: “This is such a blessing, I can’t even tell you. We did a big cheer because we’ve been waiting for at least this little momentum. It’s just so exciting.”
Amanda added the doctors' upcoming "long-term big goals" for Nick include moving him off of dialysis and off of a ventilator.
Amanda's happy news follows her Mother's Day news that she was able to have a video call with Nick.
The situation is very difficult for Amanda who is not allowed to be with her husband physically because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
She explained in a caption on her Stories: "[sic] A plead… I know this isn't possible but today is miracle day so why not ask. I just wish I could see him. Hold his hand. Touch his face. I do believe this would help him WAKE UP!"
