MOUNTAIN VS BEAST

Hafthor Bjornsson vs Eddie Hall boxing match CONFIRMED with The Mountain to fight The Beast in September 2021

HAFTHOR BJORNSSON and Eddie Hall will fight each other in Las Vegas next year.

The battle between two of the world's strongest men will take place in September 2021, with the exact date and location yet to be confirmed.

Bjornsson wrote: "It's official. September 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Mountain vs the Beast.

"The next year and a half of my career will be solely dedicated towards this fight.

"I can't wait to have my family ringside as I throw you down. I'm coming for you."

Hall added: "It's 'official', me vs Thor. Las Vegas, Nevada. #BackUpYourBull. #WhoWillReign?"

Delighted fans expressed their joy on social media, with WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry exclaiming: "I will be there!"

The announcement comes just days after 31-year-old Thor, known as 'The Mountain' after his stint on hit show Game of Thrones, beat Hall's 500kg world record deadlift by 1kg - sparking a fresh war of words between the pair.

The Icelandic giant, who won World's Strongest Man in 2018, threw down the gauntlet on Saturday moments after lifting an unbelievable 501kg at his home gym.

It narrowly beat the 500kg famously picked up by 32-year-old British behemoth Hall in 2016 - the first-ever time half a ton had been lifted.

The pair were engaged in a war of words on social media in the build-up to the event, with Hall questioning whether Thor’s deadlift should count as a world record due to it not being done in a competitive environment where other factors come into play.

And Bjornsson wasted no time after the lift in challenging Hall to a boxing match, claiming the pair had both been offered seven-figure contracts by Core Sports and he was ready to “knock out” the 2017 World’s Strongest Man winner.

Hall fired back by filming himself signing the deal while also warning Thor he will “rip his f***ing head off”.

And the world of strongman and boxing will now indeed collide, with Bjornsson already getting two days of training under his belt.

Thor, who played Ser Gregor Clegane in GOT, previously sparred with Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor in viral footage.

The 'Notorious' congratulated Bjornsson on his world record, saying on Instagram: "Congrats on the record big man!"

But Thor could soon be training with someone completely unexpected - YouTube star Logan Paul.

The American faced British video rival KSI in two boxing matches recently, losing both times.

But that didn’t stop Paul from making a bold offer on Bjornsson’s latest Insta post where he posed with boxing gloves in a fighting stance.

Paul cheekily asked: "Need a sparring partner?"

Thor hilariously replied: "You wanna spar me with me champ?", adding on a surprised emoji at the end.

Games of Thrones co-star Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, also got involved, exclaiming: "Bro you're not supposed to take stuff from the set...

"I'm surprised you got 'Mountain' contact lenses in on your own... those bad boys are huge!"

In the meantime, it seems Bjornsson is getting his tips from ex-boxer Skuli Armannsson.

He was the first-ever professional Icelandic boxer and fought in a qualifier for the 2008 Olympics games.

Armannsson had just one pro fight in 2008, which he won against Caleb Nelson on the undercard of former light heavyweight Zach Walters.

He now trains at Thor's gym in Iceland and looks to be the man guiding the Mountain to his Las Vegas showdown.
