Ajax ace Hakim Zyech's £33m move has already been agreed, while the Blues are also believed to be close to bringing in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for £54m.

Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz is believed to be their next big transfer target.

But according to Fox News, Gerson is also interesting the Londoners.

Borussia Dortmund are also chasing the 23-year-old, who is the most expensive Brazilian player to be signed by a Brazilian club.

He left Roma to move back home for £10.75m in January last year.

But it is the prospect of Havertz linking up with Lampard in West London that will excite Blues fans the most.

Manchester United remain the favourites to sign Havertz who has scored five goals in four games since the Bundelsiga restarted after coronavirus lockdown.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also in the hunt for the highly-rated 20-year-old.

But that isn’t stopping Lampard at least making it tough for his Premier League rivals.

Chelsea’s head coach says he wants to "freshen up" his squad which includes a long list of home-grown academy graduates.

Havertz and Ziyech both play wide and can be seen as direct replacements for the expected departures of veterans Willian and Pedro.
