PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have reportedly launched a £54million offer to seal Mauro Icardi's permanent transfer from Inter Milan.

Icardi has been on loan at the Parc des Princes since last summer in a deal that included a £62.7m option to buy.

Yet following football's financial crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, PSG are hoping to pay a smaller fee for the 27-year-old.

Icardi has impressed in France this season, scoring 20 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions in a fearsome front-three alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The former Inter captain remains under contract at the Nerazzurri until the summer of 2022.

Antonio Conte was hopeful of a deal that could see Edinson Cavani heading the other way on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Uruguayan is out of contract at PSG this summer - so is free to speak to other clubs - and has also been a target for Atletico Madrid since January.

Inter are thought to be braced for the impending departure of Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez.

SunSport previously reported that the Catalan giants are prepared to allow SEVEN players to leave on swap deals to free up the funds to sign the 22-year-old.

Arturo Vidal has long been a target for the Nerazzurri and the Chilean is among those earmarked for a summer swap.
