Man Utd dealt major transfer blow as Bayern Munich ‘enquire’ about £100m target Jadon Sancho

MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a major transfer blow after reports emerged suggest Bayern Munich are after Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund and England winger, 20, is high on the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wish list after his stunning performances since moving to Germany in 2017.

But according to ESPN, Dortmund's Bundesliga enemies Bayern Munich enquired about a deal for Sancho before the coronavirus crisis struck.

Bayern are keen to land a new attacker when the transfer window does reopen.

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane is thought to be their No1 target but the report suggests if talks with the German stall then the reigning champions will go for Sancho.

Dortmund value their star at more than £100million - although Bayern would no doubt have to play a premium on top of that if they wanted to sign from their fiercest domestic rivals.

An agreement is thought to be in place to allow Sancho a move should a club he is interested in joining come in with a bid meeting Dortmund's demands.

But United's chances of making Sancho their new No7 took a significant hit this week.

The Red Devils' latest financial figures made for grim reading as the club debt rose by £127.4m to £429m.

And rival fans were quick to taunt the Old Trafford club as the likelihood of being able to afford Sancho, especially with coronavirus set to shake up the transfer market, fell.

On top of that, Borussia Dortmund are said to be waiting until the transfer market returns to normal after the financial meltdown brought about by coronavirus.

The Telegraph report that fees and wages are expected to drop by 50 per cent when the summer window opens.

And with two years still left on his current deal, Dortmund are in no need to make a panic sale for the player they signed for just £8m.

Ex-Liverpool man Emre Can begged his Dortmund team-mate Sancho to stay at Dortmund - and is hopeful he will do so.

The 26-year-old said: "I see no reason to put Manchester United above Borussia Dortmund.

"Not from a sporting side and not because of the appeal. I’d tell him to stay put and let’s play together forever.

"Jadon has class that not a lot of players possess. I noticed that fairly quickly. He’s enormously important for us."
