Billy Joe Saunders wants to get ‘ginger b***ocks’ Canelo Alvarez in ring and beat him while vowing to remain unbeaten
BILLY JOE SAUNDERS is not giving up on fighting "ginger b***ocks" Canelo Alvarez and vowed to retire unbeaten.
The British southpaw was in line to defend his WBO super-middleweight title against the Mexican superstar in the summer, until the coronavirus pandemic knocked out those plans.
But after Alvarez's trainer revealed the four-weight champion still wants to fight twice this year, Saunders does not want to lose his place at the front of the queue to face Canelo.
He told Robert Orphanides on Instagram: "I know I can beat Canelo. I've never been beat and believe I'll end up unbeaten.
"If I get beat by someone who's better than me, I can only shake their hand.
"But my main goal is to get ginger b****cks in the ring and see what I can do."
Golden Boy Promotions are exploring the possibility of staging Alvarez's next fight behind closed doors, though travel to the US is at the moment prohibited.
Two-division champion Saunders also faces a battle to get licensed, having been suspended by the British Board of Boxing control following a controversial video appearing to show men how to hit their partners in lockdown.
His British boxing license was taken away, though a hearing has yet to take place due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
But the 30-year-old could still apply for a license to box in America, clearing him to fight Canelo.

Trainer Eddy Reynoso declared a third fight with IBF middleweight champion Golovkin - who drew against Canelo before losing the rematch - could then follow in December.
The Mexican won the WBA's secondary 'Regular' super-middleweight title in December 2018, stopping Rocky Fielding, but was set to challenge Saunders in a bid to become a fully fledged four-weight champ.
