Conor McGregor puzzled by ‘mad man’ Tyson Fury’s claims about teaming up for MMA camp.. but offers to train boxer up
TYSON FURY has never spoken to Conor McGregor about a move into MMA and would have to prove himself to the UFC king before he took him under his wing, the Notorious has revealed.
The 31-year-old heavyweight boxer claims to have been in contact with the Irishman about swapping the boxing ring for the octagon.
The 6ft 9in undefeated former champ even claimed the Dublin southpaw had agreed to be his coach for a potentially thrilling career swap.
But McGregor, who has his heavy hands full with Donald Cerrone in Las Vegas on Saturday, has quashed the far-fetched claims.
McGregor said: “Tyson keeps saying we have spoken and that I have said that I would train him but I have never spoken to Tyson in my life.
“I don’t know why he is saying that but it is not a bad little story so I let it roll. I heard he is coming to my fight at the weekend and he is a good man and a phenomenal boxer.
“I would not say he is only saying he will cross over, he would probably do it in time. We might be able to set something up but I would not be holding up the pads for him to hit.
“If he wanted to be trained or educated by me I would need to see him spar a heavyweight, deal with leg kicks and fight in bottom position.
“Then I would assess it and tell him what sort of work he needs to do.
"I found it funny he was saying that we had talked, he is a mad man, I have never spoken to him in my life.”
Fury did do an MMA training session with British UFC middleweight Darren Till last November, as the pair share a management team, but far-fetched dreams of a code switch have been dashed.
Ahead of his February 22 rematch with Deontay Wilder, Fury has been claiming to be in regular contact with McGregor but it seems the recent WWE crossover success has just been playing the showman.
He said: "I think Conor is an absolutely fantastic fighting man. He has offered to train me if I ever want to go into MMA.

"I'll definitely be coming over for a training session, that is for sure.”
