Footballers’ body transformations during lockdown, from Ronaldo maintaining his sculpted abs to a ripped McTominay

IF you were thinking footballers might go easy on themselves during lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic, you'd be wrong.

These stars have been pushing their bodies to the limit, and seeing results if these images are anything to go by.

From building up pecs to sculpting abs and losing a few kilos, they've taken to Instagram to show off their body transformations.

Here's the best we've seen who have taken training in quarantine VERY seriously.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY

The Scottish midfielder was one of Manchester United's most consistent performers until injury curtailed his season.

Having returned from his lay-off just weeks before Covid-19 put a halt on proceedings, his plans to get match-fit were delayed even further.

However, McTominay didn't let that bother him. 'McTerminator' has been working out like mad to stay fit.

He shared an image with a mate showing off his shredded washboard stomach, complete with the caption: "Big week complete."

But team-mate Bruno Fernandes couldn't help but poke fun at the 23-year-old.

He replied to McTominay's snap: "Scottttyyyyy training with the ball is really important, don't forget that!"

In April, he also took part in the 5 kilometre run challenge on social media and posted a staggering time of 16 minutes, one second.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

To be fair to Ronaldo, his standards are so high when it comes to fitness he never lets himself go.

But, during lockdown the Juventus forward has looked pleasantly pleased with himself and his training efforts.

The 35-year-old has been hitting the gym daily, clearly multiple times, to keep his firm abs in shape.

And he hasn't missed leg day either, pumping weights and building up those thigh muscles, as well as doing running drills up and down his driveway with missus Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo definitely looks more sculpted since lockdown.

EDEN HAZARD

Poor Eden hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to showing his class for Real Madrid since his move from Chelsea worth around £130m.

A run of injuries, plus an admittance that he's spent too much time in the pantry eating buns have seen Hazard's weight balloon.

In fact, when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu he was seven kilos overweight.

During the coronavirus lockdown, however, he's resisted the temptations of those aforementioned buns.

"It’s complicated for me. I’m trying not to eat a lot," the 29-year-old told RTBF.

"I’m trying not to go into the pantry to eat a lot of buns, but it’s not easy."

Recently, Hazard returned to Real Madrid's training centre and wowed boss Zinedine Zidane with his slimline figure.

DANNY DRINKWATER

The Chelsea outcast hasn't helped himself as he attempts to rebuild his career.

First, there was a nightclub fracas that put pay to his loan-deal at Burnley.

Then, on his second loan this season with Aston Villa he reportedly clashed with team-mate Jota and allegedly aimed a headbutt at the Spanish midfielder.

With his career at a crossroads, Drinkwater, 30, has gone back to basics and is training hard.

He stunned fans online by sharing a picture of himself mowing the lawn topless that showed off a new shredded physique.

MO SALAH

Liverpool's Egyptian star is dedicated to his craft.

Back in January, Salah, 27, showed off his impressive torso when he ripped his shirt off after scoring against Manchester United.

It was certainly a transformation from when he was a skinny winger plying his trade at Chelsea.

And it appears that Salah is continuing to hone his bulking physique, showing us last month that he's even bigger now since lockdown.

A snap on Instagram showing off his body certainly got team-mate Dejan Lovren jealous.

"So you do have photo sessions at home," the Croatian defender joked.
