Jet2 was forced to ground all flights in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and resumed a number of repatriation flights before stopping all routes.

The company said today that all customers due to travel before July 15 will be contacted, with the option of rebooking their getaway to a later date.

In a statement today the company said: "In view of the ongoing travel restrictions that are in place as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to recommence our flights and holidays programme on July 15th."

We will be introducing a range of safety measures on our aircraft and transfer vehicles.

They continued: "The health and safety of our customers and colleagues is our absolute priority, and we are continuing to monitor the situation very closely.

"We are working closely with all relevant authorities, to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone enjoying our flights and holidays, and we will be introducing a range of safety measures on our aircraft and transfer vehicles."

Other airlines have announced plans to resume this summer - easyJet is relaunching a limited number of flights from the UK and Europe from June 15.

The airline said it is "introducing new measures to help ensure safety and wellbeing, including enhanced aircraft cleaning and disinfection and requirement for passengers and crew to wear masks".

Both Ryanair and British Airways are to resume flights in July, although all dates are likely to change depending on the pandemic.

The UK still advises against all non-essential travel abroad, which isn't likely to be lifted anytime soon.
