However, the Reverend Geraldine Granger's big return left some viewers emotional after a touching tribute was made to former co-star Emma.

Emma - who was best known for playing loveable Alice Tinker in the long-running BBC sitcom - passed away in 2018.

On a zoom call, Geraldine recalled happy memories from her time in Dibley when old clips appeared on-screen including Alice and Hugo Horton's wedding.

Geraldine said: "When I think back I've had some difficult moments, that's for sure. But it's the happy things I remember like, dancing with Darcey Bussell and joining an idiot and a simpleton in holy matrimony."

"Wouldn't be the same without Owen, Alice and Frank, though."
