Shakira graduates from UPenn philosophy course after ‘studying while the kids were asleep’
SHAKIRA has graduated from the University of Pennsylvania after taking a four-week Ancient Philosophy course.
The 43-year-old singer proudly showed off her certificate on Thursday and revealed she'd been studying while her sons Sasha, five, and Milan, seven, were asleep.
The She Wolf singer posted a selfie alongside the course certificate on social media.
She wrote: "I just graduated from my 4 week Ancient Philosophy course with the University of Pennsylvania.
"I know... my hobbies are very impractical, but it took a lot of hours after the kids were asleep."
The Hips Don't Lie singer signed off: "Thank you Plato and predecessors for all the 'fun' over the past month!"
Shakira's followers flocked to the comments to express their admiration.
One wrote: "We stan an intellectual queen."
Another commented: "Queen of education. Shakira - a modern philosopher."
A third added: "Thank you for making education an importance during these hard times. I love what you’re doing and the message you’re spreading."
It seems Shakira's long-time partner Gerard Pique is just as proud.
The footballer shared a video of the star hard at work watching a tutorial on her laptop amid the coronavirus crisis.
He joked in the caption: "Studying philosophy! Smart a**! #stayhome."
Shakira's academic achievements come after she faced backlash for her raunchy Super Bowl halftime show with Jennifer Lopez earlier this year.
The show was slammed as “porn” after their performance drew more than 1,300 complaints from viewers.
Viewers across the US took issue with the “crotch grabbing”, “risque dancing” and “exposed skin” featured in the duo's performance at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on February 2.
The pop sensations performed their biggest hits - 20 songs in 12 minutes - during a kinetically charged performance, as they showed off sexy moves, twerked and pole danced on stage.
But some offended viewers said they had to "shield their children's eyes" according to freedom of information responses collected by WFAA.
One viewer said it was less a musical act and more an "X-rated strip club performance" that featured no warning before it was broadcast.
