THE Chuckle Brothers have been entertaining children since the dawn of time - or at least that's how it feels.

Here is everything you need to know about the comedy double act who recently made a TV comeback ahead of news that Barry Elliott had sadly passed away in August 2018...

Who are the Chuckle Brothers?

The comedy duo is formed of brother Barry, 73, and Paul Elliott, 70.

They are originally from Rotherham and were introduced to the bright lights of the stage at a young age.

Their father James Elliott went by the stage name Gene Patton and worked the London club scene, even performing with an 18-year-old Peter Sellers in 1943.

The duo also have two older brothers Jimmy and Brian who are known collectively as the Patton Brothers and have starred alongside their siblings in their show ChuckleVision.

News came that Barry Elliott had passed away on August 5, 2018.

What is the Chuckle Brothers' show Chuckle Time?

The Chuckle Brothers made a TV comeback with their show Chuckle Time.

It aired on Channel 5, featuring comedy sketches and funny clips from the audience and the internet.

A comedy source said: “It’s going to be fun for all the family, a bit like You’ve Been Framed but with more of the brothers’ own input.

“Paul and Barry have spent their lives falling over and making the public laugh, now they are watching us make fools of ourselves.”

When were the Chuckle Brothers in Benidorm?

Rumours started that The Chuckle Brothers would be joining the cast of Benidorm around the end of March 2017.

They joined the show for Series 10 as special guest stars, showing up on the March 14, 2018, episode to cause havoc during a performance at Neptune's Bar.

Barry and Paul were first snapped with John Challis in a beach bar, as fans gathered round to watch the scenes unfold.

Both of the comedians were sat opposite each other at an outdoor table, while cameramen surrounded them on a balcony.

What else have the Chuckle Brothers starred in?

With a career spanning half a century, the Chuckle brothers have popped up in all kinds of shows.

Their career was launched by an appearance on the talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1967.

From 1996-1998 they presented the children's game show To Me, To You named after their signature catchphrase which was set on a desert island.

Following their inaugural performance, they featured on a number of other variety shows before securing their own show Chuckle Vision, the kids programme that made them famous.

The show was one of the longest running children's programmes on the BBC continuing for 22 years from 1987 to 2009.

Since it finished they have made appearances in shows like The Weakest Link, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and Celebrity Coach Trip.

More recently they have been guests on Walliams and Friend and Blankety Blank in 2016 and The Nightly Show in 2017.
