Emmerdale fans convinced Zak’s hidden cash is about to be found eight years after he hid it on the moor

EMMERDALE fans think Zak's hidden cash is about to be found eight years after he hid it on the moor.

Zak Dingle suffered a breakdown in 2012, where in a state of delirium he buried a wad of cash somewhere in the wilderness.

Later he was found by Cain and the other Dingles - but the cash was never discovered nor mentioned again.

However, Emmerdale fans believe this plot point will be picked up eight years later after the official Instagram account shared a photo referencing the scene.

The photo shows Cain grabbing Zak on the moors after hunting him down.

The fans' first thought was the missing money, with one person saying: "Wonder if that money he hid is still there" and another adding: "My very same thought. Is anyone ever going to find his wad of cash be buried there?"

A third said: "Did they ever find the money? Can't remember now."

A fourth remarked: "Throwback but a canny one, will that money ever be recovered or has it disappeared anyway."

When filming returns, this might be a perfect time to reignite the storyline as Zak actor Steve Halliwell is returning as the character.

Steve took six months off work after a heart operation but fans of the ITV classic can breathe a sigh of relief, as the popular character will be back soon.

Soap bosses waited for the right time to bring Zak back and didn't want his return overshadowed by Graham Foster's murder.

A source told us: "Steve's back on set and is already filming scenes for Zak's return to the show.

"He was off screen for a break, but it was mainly as Zak wasn't involved in the Who Shot Graham storyline.

"But fans will have missed him - he's a show legend after all - and he'll be back on their screens in a few weeks time. He's having a great time back on set and everyone was really pleased to see him at work."

He is the soap's second longest serving cast member and has openly thanked the show and his Dingle family for supporting him through his recovery journey.
