"I am sorry I have not been able to reply to them individually, as I am sure you will understand that I am focusing on my family and Derek right now."

She went on: "In quieter moments I am reading all of your messages and they are so comforting and wonderful to read."

Tonight she emotionally revealed she still doesn't know if her sick husband Derek can hear her as she video called him during the 8pm Clap for our Carers.

The 53-year-old said her family were thanking those "fighting to bring him back to us".

Kate's husband Derek, 52, was taken into hospital on April 1, where he tested positive for Covid-19, and still remains in intensive care six weeks on.

She said: "So our #nhsclap was a little different tonight.

"We still clapped & cheered as much as ever but I couldn’t film on my phone as had Derek on FaceTime throughout!

"Of course we can’t KNOW but I believe he can hear us & thought at least the incredible @nhs team’s looking after him would hear a fraction of our gratitude."

Kate's husband Derek was taken into hospital on April 1, where he tested positive for Covid-19, and still remains in intensive care.

On April 16, Kate revealed on her Instagram account that Derek was still in a "deeply critical condition".

She added: "He is still here, which means there is hope."

A few weeks later on May 1, Kate revealed that he is still "unresponsive" to her when she speaks to him every night.

The presenter added that he was still "fighting so hard to beat this virus".

Earlier this month Kate was forced to spend her first birthday without her husband by her side in 16 years.

She said at the time: "So yesterday was always going to be a tough one - 1st birthday in 16 years without Derek - so for the kids & I, his absence was very present.

"But we resolved to do what I think we are all having to do at the moment aren’t we - treasure & be grateful for the love around us - however distanced we are from it."
Kate has been updating fans about Derek's condition on Thursdays as she claps for the NHS heroes battling to save his life.
