Where is Brassic season 2 filmed?

BRASSIC continues TONIGHT (June 11) and it's set in a fictional Lancashire town of Hawley.

It's inspired by writer and lead actor Joe Gilgun's experiences of growing up in Chorley and filming took place across the North West.

Bacup

The show's Location Manager Jonathan Davies said Bacup was picked for filming because: "There’s this whole idea of it being a forgotten town and forgotten people in a way, a former mill town feel where at one point there would’ve been quite a lot of prosperous businesses and everyone would’ve been in full employment.

"Those people are still living there but all that industry’s gone, and it’s what’s left behind I suppose.

"Bacup’s not a very big town but the architecture’s interesting because there are lots of gems from the Victorian period, and even some Art Deco examples around the town centre, so it’s an interesting combination."

If you know the town you'll be able to recognise some of its landmarks in the series.

It's the main place used for filming in series two.

Manchester

Amazingly the cast used a real pub for filming scenes, rather than a set.

The pub used is near Piccadilly Station and is called The Star and Garter.

The cast also made a trip to university as the doctor scenes were filmed on Salford University's campus.

The caravan site Ash lives on is also filmed in Manchester, except in real life it's a car park.

Bolton

Vinnie's makeshift house was filmed in woods just outside of Bolton.

The shack is meant to be just outside of the fictional town Hawley.

Davies said they knew immediately it would be the perfect location when they discovered it.

He said: "In the distance you can see some buildings, which suggest a town within walking distance so there’s this idea that Vinnie keeps himself at a distance."

Ashton-Under-Lyne

Scenes with Erin's house in were filmed here in this market town that's part of Greater Manchester.

The town is home to around 50,000 people, and was heavily involved in the cotton trade.
