The acclaimed series is seen as a love letter to 80’s sci-fi.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has often been credited with pushing the boundaries of what a show for kids could do.

The series follows a boy who has been tasked with bringing peace to a world at war.

Somehow, it manages to strike a balance between heavy issues such as genocide and totalitarianism with humour suitable for young audiences.

It contains solid character arcs and builds towards an ending which ties all the storylines and themes up satisfyingly.

16. PAW Patrol

PAW Patrol is a Canadian pre-school series which follows excitable young boy Ryder lead a team of search and rescue dogs on a number of missions. 

Each of the dogs have a unique special ability that corresponds to an emergency service such as firefighter or police officer. 

They travel on ‘pupmobiles’ created specifically for them. 

The show has created over 210 episodes so far. It is suitable for children aged three and over.

17. Peppa Pig

Everyone’s favourite muddy-puddle jumping pig, Peppa, has found her way to Netflix.

The kids TV favourite follows Peppa’s life at home, at school and on her daily activities with her friends including Suzie Sheep and Pedro the Pony. 

The episodes are short, often no longer than 5 minutes in length.
