Lidl is selling a £40 pizza oven – here are the other cheap options

LIDL is launching an outdoor barbecue pizza oven for just £39.99 - so you can bring that authentic taste right into your home.

The supermarket will be stocking the ovens from Thursday May 21 in stores.

You’ll need to already own a barbecue as this pizza oven sits on top of an existing heat source - but it can be used on both gas and charcoal grills.

It comes with a base to cook a 12-inch pizza as well as an integrated thermostat for easy temperature control.

You can also cook bread in the oven.

And to go alongside, Lidl will be selling a pizza paddle for £9.99 to help you slide your foodie creations in and out of the oven with ease.

It is sure to sell out quickly, and if you can’t get hold of one, here are some of the other cheap pizza ovens on the market.

Like the Lidl pizza oven, this oven also sits on top of a traditional barbecue, making it the perfect low-cost option.

The oven comes with a 10mm pizza stone, and has a handy glass panel on the door, allowing you to watch your pizza as it cooks.

It also has a temperature gauge so you can check how hot the oven is - and it can heat up to around 450 degrees.

We found it for sale at Garden Gear, which will deliver it in four to five days for £4.95.

This pizza oven also doubles up as a fire pit when you’ve finished eating.

Use the pizza stone to cook pizza or meat or fish, then use the wood-burning stove underneath when you are done.

You can buy this from Wayfair and it will be delivered by the end of next week for free.

This multi-function outdoor pizza oven is perfect for those who love dining alfresco.

Constructed from durable steel, it can cook pizza, be used as a barbecue and can also smoke fish and meats. 

It includes a temperature gauge, cordierite pizza stone, wire bottom shelf, ash tray, air vents and flue damper. 

The stand and grill are included.

Argos currently has this oven in stock, although when we looked, it wasn’t available for home delivery.

However, you can click and collect this item at Argos stores inside some Sainsbury’s supermarkets, which is free.

This pizza oven produces stone baked pizza and can also be used to smoke and barbecue meat, fish and veg. 

There’s also a handy shelf at the bottom to store your plates and condiments, and a handle at the side with two wheels so it can be moved easily.

As with many of the other models, this comes with a temperature gauge so you can check how hot it is getting.

You can buy this at B&Q, and while on the retailer’s website it is listed as unavailable for home delivery and click and collect, you can check stock in your local store.

When we checked for a London postcode, a number of stores in the area had stock available.

The Ooni pizza ovens get rave reviews online, and was the best value gas-powered option we found.

It is very compact: simply flip out the legs and connect to a gas tank.

It heats up in around 15 minutes and can reach temperatures up to 500 degrees, allowing you to cook pizzas in 60 seconds.

You can also roast fish, meat and vegetables.

Unfortunately it is so popular that it will not ship until August, meaning you won’t be eating many homemade pizzas this summer.

But you can pre-order it here now if you have really set your heart on it.

One of the most expensive pizza ovens in our selection, this as close as you can get to the real deal while also not breaking the bank.

Made from natural clay, this oven would be a great addition to any outdoor space. 

It gets extremely hot and cooks authentic wood-fired pizzas.

You can buy it at The Range, and it’s currently only available for home delivery, which is free.

At the moment, the website says that the oven won’t be delivered until June 23, so you’ll have to wait for your pizzas.

It runs on gas, meaning it heats up quickly and you’ll be cooking in no time.

It also comes with two pizza stones, a pizza peel and a pair of heat-resistant safety gloves, making it one of the best value options in terms of extras.

Shipping costs £15 and it will turn up in two days.
