ICELAND’S chilli chicken wings have been rated by one of the world’s largest YouTube chilli channels whose testers had to wear GLOVES to eat the spicy snack.

The budget supermarket released the red hot offering back in April and dubbed them the spiciest chicken wings in the UK.

They’re made with the infamous Carolina Reaper chilli, the spiciest chilli in the world and 230 times hotter than a jalapeño pepper.

But for anyone wondering if they can really be that hot, look no further than this review from the Clifton Chilli Club, run by a team of spice lovers with over 418,000 YouTube subscribers.

No stranger to spicy eating challenges, the two testers – Jay Webley, 43, and Dave Smith, 47, both from Bristol - can be seen having to use gloves to handle the red hot chicken wings.

The packet actually states that you must wear gloves when cooking the chicken, so make sure you buy your own.

As soon as the goods are out of the oven, Jay notes that they “smell great”.

He added: “A little oily but that’s not a bad thing with wings.”

As the pair, Jay complete with a flame design hair net to keep any hot sauce from his long locks, begin to tuck in, they note: “They’re cheap, easily available – I think people will find these hot.

Dave adds: “They’re instantly hot – they get you straight away.”

They manage to devour almost half a plate of six wings and rate the products 6.5 out of 10 on their heat level.

Clifton Chilli Club's verdict on the Iceland red hot chilli chicken wings

THE Clifton Chilli Club are big fans of Iceland's red hot chilli chicken wings and gave the product a solid thumbs up.

Jay told The Sun: "We found the Iceland Red Hot Wings to be instantly hot.

"Despite using the world’s hottest chilli, they didn’t pack quite the punch we were expecting but they will certainly be hot enough for many chilli fans.

"Wings shouldn’t be too hot in our opinion as you don’t want to detract from the sweet wing meat.

"Iceland have achieved a good balance of heat and flavour with this product.

"There’s a touch of smokiness and sweetness which compliments the heat.

"Our packet contained 6 x three bone wings, none of which contained broken bones or suggested low quality meat.

"Whilst we cooked these in the oven, they would definitely be elevated by being finished on the BBQ for a little char.

"Overall, we really enjoyed this product."

Iceland's red hot chilli chicken wings are available in store nationwide now and cost £3 for a 630g bag.

Sadly they're currently sold out online but a spokesperson from Iceland told us this is only temporary and customers can expect to find them on the website again soon.

Half a bag contains 349 calories - so it might not be a bad thing if the spice level puts you off scoffing the lot.

We couldn't find another UK supermarket selling chicken wings with Carolina Reaper chilli but Morrisons' customers can buy wings made with Ghost chilli.

Otherwise known as Bhut jolokia, this pepper isn't as spicy as the Carolina Reaper but is at least 100 times hotter than a jalapeño.

The red hot chilli chicken wings have been noted as one of Iceland's most viral products in a brand new list from the supermarket.

Also coming out top for most searched goodies are the budget chain's hash brown fries, which currently sell for £2 per 700g pack.

There's also Iceland's Slimming World chips, which feature half the calories of McCain's and cost £2.25 per 1kg bag, and the supermarket's exclusive range of Greggs products, including frozen bakes from the much-loved bakery chain.
