Some stores have provided staff with PPE while others have put up perspex screens in a bid to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

And even though some high street food outlets have started serving once again, its' only for drive-thru or takeaway orders.

It's been almost two months since the Government ordered the closure of all non-essential shops and premises.

And while the rate of infection has significantly slowed thanks to lockdown, Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that if it creeped upwards again, he wouldn't hesitate to slam on the brakes.

These are the stores that have reopened as lockdown measures are eased:

B&Q has now reopened all 288 of its UK stores.

The hardware chain initially reopened 14 branches in mid-April after watching “other essential retailers support social distancing measures”.

Since then, it's been gradually opening more stores as it said it became clear staff could serve customers safely following social distancing measures.

The DIY chain is considered to be "essential" meaning it is allowed to stay open during the lockdown.

Burger King is currently carrying out a phased reopening of the majority of restaurants for delivery and drive-thru orders.

It's pledged to reopen one in every city by May 31 - you can see the full list of those that are already up and running here.

The reopened Burger King restaurants are only taking delivery and drive-thru orders, so you won't be able to dine in.

Cafe and restaurants are allowed to continue to offer a takeaway service during lockdown, but Burger King initially closed all branches to keep staff and customers safe.

Having given staff training on how to run a kitchen with social distancing rules, it started by opening four stores last month but has already expanded this.

As well as hot drinks, Costa is also serving cakes and hot food, including toasties and sandwiches.

It's teamed up with Uber Eats for deliveries and there is no minimum delivery spend - but you'll need to pay a delivery fee of £3.50 per order.

Costa announced it was temporarily closing the majority of its 2,700 stores on March 23, keeping just a handful of branches inside hospitals open for NHS staff.

Greggs is trialling reopening some of its stores for walk-in customers in the Newcastle area to test social distancing measures.

It had previously looked at officially reopening the 20 shops in Newcastle - where Greggs headquarters is based - but scrapped these plans over fears of huge customer demand.

When asked by The Sun where the trial locations are and how many branches had opened, Greggs declined to say.

KFC fans can once again get their hands on their favourite fried chicken after the fast food chain reopened around 100 branches for delivery only - you can find out which ones here.

You won't be able to order directly from the restaurant - you'll need to go through a third party delivery service.

Orders placed through Deliveroo will see a £3.49 delivery charge added to the bill, while Just East charges £3 and Uber Eats charges £3.50.

Last week, it also opened 55 drive-thrus, open from midday to 9pm, seven days a week.

However, KFC is urging customers to continue to order online still if they can.

KFC is running a limited menu to help keep workers safe, but when we checked, you can still order single sandwiches, smaller meal boxes and larger bucket options.

KFC has 900 outlets in the UK, with the chicken chain having temporarily shut up shop on March 23.

Homebase initially opened 70 UK stores as part of a trial, and then opened the remainder of its stores on May 2.

The home improvement retailer is considered to be essential so is allowed to stay open during lockdown, but it temporarily closed all stores as it struggled to comply with social distancing rules.

While its stores remained closed for browsing, it operated a click and collect service but customers struggled to get onto its website due to high demand.

On the first weekend it reopened, hundreds of shoppers were spotted venturing out during lockdown to queue to get in but they appeared to be abiding by rules - keeping at least two metres apart.

But a spokesperson told The Sun that it was waiting on further instruction from the Government before opening stores to the public.

The Swedish furniture giant temporarily shut its 22 stores on March 20 - a day before Britain went into lockdown.

Matalan has reopened 15 stores across the UK after the Government relaxed lockdown rules to allow homeware shops to reopen.

The reopened stores are located in out of town retail parks - you can see the full list here.

Matalan said its high street stores, stores in shopping centres, clearance stores and shops in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales remain closed.

New measures to protect staff and shoppers from coronavirus include a reduction in the number of customers allowed in a store as well as a changed layout so you have more space.

The retailer has also given all staff PPE and will provide hand sanitiser and cleaning products to shoppers so you can clean your basket.

Plus, it's temporarily closed its fitting rooms, cafes, toilets and baby nurturing rooms.

Marks & Spencer reopened 49 of its in-store cafes for takeaway hot drinks from May 14.

The cafes, which are located in M&S stores across the UK, have been selected as they're next to a foodhall.

This means customers can easily pick up a coffee while doing their food shop.

Most of the cafes are open for the first six hours of trade at each store, meaning if the shop opens at 9am the cafe will be open until 3pm.

The discount retailer had kept most of its shops open for essential shopping, but in March it temporarily shut around 100 branches.

The majority of the closed stores had another outlet close by or were in a shopping centre which faced difficulties remaining open.

Poundland reopened 30 of its stores across the UK and Ireland on May 18, with another 15 opening on May 21.

The stores have reopened with social distancing measures including security guards at the door to limit the number of customers in store at any one time and floor markers to help customers keep two metres apart.

Other measures in place include perspex screens to protect workers and customers and "rigorous hygiene routines", which include workers washing their hands every 20 minutes and surfaces being wiped down every hour.

And as of May 11, another 71 branches in London, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Reading, St Albans and Tunbridge Wells have reopened too.

If you do want your Pret goodies delivered, you'll need to factor in the delivery charges, for example, Deliveroo charges £3.49, Just Eat is £3 and Uber Eats charges £3.50.

Only a limited menu is available including the most popular sandwiches, salads and baguettes.

Pret a Manger has around 500 cafes in the UK, all of which shut on March 21.

The company, which is known for its burgers, crinkly fries and milkshakes, said it has introduced social distancing measures designed to keep staff and customers safe.

These include face masks for all employees, floor markers, contactless pick-up and delivery, and allocated pick-up zones for delivery riders.

The opening hours for the Tottenham Court Road and Canary Wharf restaurants will be 11.30am to 10pm.

Perspex screens have been put up in these stores and strict hygiene routines will be implemented to keep staff and customers safe during this time.

The shops will gradually be reopening in the near future - you can find out which ones are open here.

Starbucks reopened 150 of its UK stores last week - but only for drive-thru and takeaway orders.

The cafe chain made the call to kick-start business again after Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid out the "first careful steps" of easing the coronavirus lockdown.

It hasn't revealed exactly which stores have been reopened but customers are advised to check the online store finder tool to see if their local branch is open.

Starbucks says it'll be serving a "near-complete" range of beverages including lattes, cappuccinos, iced coffees, teas and frappuccinos.

But food will be more restricted, with the coffee giant offering a menu "focused on our most popular items".

Customers will be able to use drive-thru lanes to order drinks and food, or through the Starbucks app.

Alternatively, customers can order by calling their local store or through Uber Eats.

Subway reopened more than 600 - around a quarter - of its branches for takeaway and delivery across the UK on Tuesday, May 12.

It came after the sandwich chain closed all shops on March 23 due to coronavirus.

Stores feature signage to support social distancing, improved hygiene practices and the supply of PPE to protect staff and customers.

The new measures have been tested in a small number of stores that have remained open to serve key workers and hospital staff, Subway said.

To say thanks for their hard work during the pandemic, NHS workers will receive 25 per cent off their orders.

To find out if your local branch has reopened, simply use the chain's store locator tool.

Hungry Subway fans can also order for delivery on Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats from the reopened branches.
