MCDONALD’S customers will have a £25 cap on the amount of food they can order using Uber Eats today.

It means loyal Maccies fans will have to choose wisely when ordering their first meal since restaurants were temporarily shut due to coronavirus.

McDonald’s is reopening at 15 locations today, May 13, for delivery orders only.

Next week, the fast food chain will also be opening 40 drive-thru lanes - but the £25 limit will be in place in drive-thrus too.

McDonald’s told The Sun the £25 limit using Uber Eats doesn’t include delivery fees.

The fast food chain says it is limiting the amount customers can spend at one time to help manage customer demand.

Restaurants will also be running with fewer staff, due to social distancing measures.

In addition, customers are being asked to pay with card or contactless methods where possible.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: "During our pilot phases while we test our new safety procedures, we will temporarily limit order sizes to allow us to meet customer demand as we will operate with fewer employees in our kitchens to enable social distancing. "

Delivery remains the only way for McDonald's fans to get their Big Mac and chips fix this week, before the chain introduces drive-thrus.

Restaurants will remain closed for the public to enter, which means you won't be able to eat inside.

Before the coronavirus lockdown, McDonald’s customers could also order food for home delivery via Just Eat.

The fast food chain confirmed none of the restaurants reopening today are partnered with Just Eat.

McDonald's also hasn't confirmed if the limit will remain in place once more branches reopen.

Maccies fans will also want to know that there will be a limited menu in place for the time-being.

Some customers were left heartbroken when they discovered this reduced selection didn't include any breakfast options.

This is also down to reduced staff, as well as reopened branches and drive-thrus being open 11am to 10pm.

There is no word on when McDonald's plans on reopening restaurants fully, or when it'll start its click and collect service via the My McDonald's app again.

McDonald's has yet to release the full list of drive-thru locations that are set to reopen next week.

However, the fast food chain told The Sun that ten of the 40 branches are from the 15 who will be offering delivery.

This means there will be 45 restaurants reopened for either drive-thru, delivery, or both, by next Wednesday.
