But the hardware chain initially reopened 14 branches mid-April after watching “other essential retailers support social distancing measures”.

Another 61 branches opened on April 22, followed by an additional 80 stores on April 23, with the latest batch opened on April 29 and April 30.

It means all 288 B&Q stores in the UK are now open.

The DIY chain, which has been classed as an "essential" retailer during the coronavirus crisis, says reopened stores follow strict social distancing measures.

Which shops and restaurants have reopened?

THE following high street chains have started reopening branches following the coronavirus shutdown.

You should note that most of the food chains are only open for takeaway and home delivery.

This includes two metre floor markers throughout shops and perspex screens at checkouts.

Customers may also have to queue to get into stores, with shops limiting the number of shoppers allowed in at one time.

The retailer did temporarily stop services such as kitchen and bathroom design, paint mixing, timber cutting and key cutting.

But most stores now offer kitchen and bathroom design (meetings will be socially distanced) and paint mixing (but not paint matching), and key cutting is also now available at stores with a machine.

Timber cutting is still unavailable.

Reopened stores only accept card and contactless payments.

Core opening times in reopened stores are from 8am until 5pm, although operating hours may vary between branches.

Shoppers should use the online store finder tool, or call ahead, before making the journey.

B&Q's website is still open for home deliveries and for click and collect orders.

Home delivery costs from £5 or it's free on orders over £50.

Click and collect is free and is usually a next-day service but currently B&Q warns to expect delays of "several days".

It adds that you shouldn't travel to stores until you're notified your order is ready.

Once in store you can pick up your item from the designated collection point you'll need a copy of the order confirmation, as well as ID for whoever purchased the item.
Before B&Q stores reopened customers queued for more than an hour to get onto its DIY.com website.

Others have been left fuming over two-week waits for click and collect orders.

B&Q has started selling bedding plants and herb bundles so you can spruce up your garden.
