It means McDonald’s fans now have two ways to get their Big Mac and fries fix - if they live near a participating restaurant.

The fast food chain has reopened 33 drive-thru lanes in England as of May 20, plus six branches in the Republic of Ireland.

You can find the full list of locations below - although furious McDonald’s fans claim fast food chain "hates the north" as the drive thrus are all in the south.

In England, this now means there are 23 branches open just for drive-thru orders, five for delivery orders only via Uber Eats, and ten sites that are offering both.

Queues of customers in their cars were seen lining up outside several locations before drive-thrus officially opened.

However, McDonald’s has warned it could be forced to close drive-thru locations today if queues get out of hand.

The fast food chain also confirmed it plans on reopening all drive-thru sites by early June.

If you're planning on visiting a drive-thru, you can now also pre-order your food for collection via the My McDonald's app.

McDonald's tweeted: “We expect a high demand across all locations. We are working closely with local authorities and we may determine that it is necessary to close our drive-thru lanes if queues cause disruption or put our employees or customers at risk.

“We are aiming to reopen all drive-thrus by early June and hope to see you soon.”

McDonald's was flooded with orders last week when it reopened its first 15 restaurants since the coronavirus lockdown.

The high demand left some customers missing out, with some diners complaining that they couldn't place an order on Uber Eats.

McDonald's had previously warned that deliveries will take longer than usual.

The fast food chain is currently operating with a limited menu due to having less staff in kitchen areas at one time.

This still includes fan favourites such as Big Macs and McNuggets - but sadly there are no breakfast options.

Again, this is down to fewer staff and also restaurants operating under reduced hours of 11am until 10pm.

Previously, McDonald's breakfast would be served until 11am.

McDonald's has also introduced a spending limit of £25 on Uber Eats and at drive-thrus to try and control the high number of orders.

This spending limit doesn't include the delivery fee when ordering from Uber Eats.

Dining areas will remain closed to the public, so you can't sit inside and eat.

To help keep staff safe in reopened stores, all workers have been given gloves and face masks, plus they'll be required to have temperature checks before starting their shift.

Perspex screens have also been installed in kitchen areas to help maintain social distances.

Customers are being asked to pay with card and contactless payments where possible.

The Sun had previously seen a leaked memo sent to McDonald's employees, which said the fast food chain had been testing social distancing measures and personal protective equipment.

McDonald's temporarily shut all 1,350 restaurants on March 23.
