Aldi extends supermarket opening hours so that shoppers can visit at quieter times
ALDI is extending its opening hours from next week thanks to shoppers no longer panic buying.
The supermarket confirmed stores will be open longer from Tuesday, April 14.
It means customers now have longer to pick up food and essentials, as well as the option to shop during quieter times.
Aldi’s core hours for the majority of its stores are currently 8am to 8pm, with some shops opening at 7am.
But from next week, most shops will stay open until 10pm, as they did before the coronavirus crisis.
The times shops open and Sunday hours will remain the same.
What items is Aldi limiting?
DUE to coronavirus panic buying Aldi has limits on the following products:
Four item limit
- Antibacterial wipes
- Beans
- Bleach
- Canned tomatoes
- Hand wash and soap
- Part baked bread
- Pasta
- Sausages
- Shower gel
- Toilet tissue, kitchen towel, and tissues
Two item limit
- Antibacterial hand gel
- Baby formula
- UHT milk
Aldi shops open at either 10am or 11am on Sunday, and close at 4pm or 5pm.
As opening hours vary between shops, customers are advised to check the online shop finder tool to see the most up-to-date opening times.
Aldi has around 874 stores in the UK.
A spokesperson from Aldi told Mirror Money: "Our shelves are now well stocked throughout the day, so there is no need to visit stores first thing in the morning.
"In fact, from Tuesday 14 April, we will be extending our opening hours in almost all of our stores so you can shop until 10pm Monday to Saturday, when our stores are quieter.
"Normal Sunday opening hours remain in place."
Aldi is currently giving key workers in the NHS, police and fire service priority at the tills Monday to Saturday upon showing a valid ID.
They can visit stores 30-minutes prior to opening on Sundays.
In addition, stores also opening 30 minutes early Monday to Saturday for elderly and vulnerable shoppers.
We've asked Aldi if these special hours will still be in place and we'll update this article when we know more.
The change in opening hours comes shortly after Aldi announced it would stop selling some of its famous Specialbuys in the middle aisle of stores.
The discounter is still releasing Specialbuys each week but depending on the range, not all of the products will be available in stores as usual.
Its full Specialbuys range will continue to be sold online.

The supermarket used to have stricter restrictions in place, including a limit of two per customer on items including nappies and toilet rolls.
Meanwhile, parents have accused supermarkets including Aldi of not allowing them to bring in their children into stores during the coronavirus epidemic.
