The latest update from KFC means fried chicken fans will be able to enjoy their favourite meal as the fast food chain prepares to reopen almost 50 per cent of its restaurants.

The reopened restaurants will have a limited menu in place, meaning not all fan favourites will be available to order.

This is due to having less workers in kitchens at one time, KFC said.

KFC has been slowly reopening restaurants across the UK for either home delivery, drive-thru or takeaway.

Hungry customers were seen queuing for miles when KFC announced it was reopening drive-thru lanes at 55 restaurants on May 5.

Last week, the fried chicken chain said it was reopening 16 restaurants for takeaway in person.

Dining areas remain closed for the public, meaning you won't be able to sit in and eat your chicken.

KFC is currently available for home delivery on Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

Just keep in mind that you'll need to pay a delivery fee on top of your food order, depending on how far away you are from your nearest restaurant.

Despite its menu being slimmed down, KFC fans will still be able to order single meals, burgers and even bargain buckets.

Customers are being advised to check the KFC website to see if their local branch is open - and to find out if it is offering delivery, drive-thru or takeaway.

For restaurants offering takeaway, customers are able to order inside branches, with social distancing measures in place, and then take their food away.

Core opening hours for reopened locations are 12pm until 9pm, although this may vary.

To keep staff safe, workers are being kept apart with designated two metre zones inside restaurants, marked by tape on the floor.

The restaurant chain has also installed perspex screens where necessary, and has been giving staff face masks and gloves.

The fast food chain announced it was closing all branches on March 23 due to the coronavirus crisis.

KFC has more than 900 branches in the UK and employs around 24,000 members of staff.

Five Guys has also now reopened branches in the UK.

Another chain to restart their service is Starbucks, with a handful of locations open for delivery and takeaway.

Greggs has also reopened a "small number" of outlets - but only in Newcastle.
