When is the next lockdown review?
The next coronavirus lockdown review is expected to now be held on June 25.
It was initially expected to be a week earlier on June 18, as the reviews were taking place every three weeks.
A new maximum review period of 28 rather than 21 days means that the next review will take place on 25th June.
On June 2nd, Matt Hancock announced that there would be an extension to the review, in a Written Ministerial Statement, he said:
“To ensure that we are making future decisions about the lockdown at the right time, the maximum review period will change from 21 days to 28 days.
“This will allow decisions to align more closely with the period of time necessary to assess the impact of previous changes on key data feeds, including the R rate.
“The Government will also keep all the measures under continual review and will account to Parliament on an ongoing basis.”
What can be expected in phase 3?
In phase three of the lockdown process, we can expect to reopen some of the remaining businesses and premises.
This will include:
- personal care - such as hairdressers and beauty salons
- hospitality - such as pubs, food service providers, and accommodation
- public places - such as places of worship
- leisure facilities - such as cinemas and gyms
