ANGRY residents have blasted yobs on a "Jeremy Kyle Show" estate who "behave like animals" and flout the coronavirus lockdown.

Fed-up locals in Sheffield, South Yorkshire lashed out after around 50 people gathered to watch a brawl on Monday evening.

Shocking footage shows a large crowd watching the scrap in Page Hall and ignoring social distancing rules to stay two metres apart.

Cops are investigating after a woman was injured, with two residents releasing videos of more unlawful gatherings in the area in recent weeks.

It comes after more than 32,000 Brits have died from coronavirus, with at least three deaths in the Page Hall postcode.

'UNBELIEVABLY DISGUSTING'

One local woman, who asked not to be named, raged at gangs who break the lockdown "every day".

The 36-year-old told Yorkshire Live: "It's better than The Jeremy Kyle Show. Just open your front door and bang, you’ve got some kind of action.

"It is unbelievably disgusting just how many of these are out and about just stood in gangs chatting while the kids are doing who knows what.

These people that are breaking the rules of lockdown are giving us all a bad name. We don't all live like animals and we don't all behave like animals

"They just don't get how serious this pandemic is.

“There are gangs of people out in the streets at all hours of the day. They let their kids play out in the streets at all hours and in all weathers."

She added: “These people that are breaking the rules of lockdown are giving us all a bad name. We don't all live like animals and we don't all behave like animals."

Figures released this month revealed that coronavirus is killing twice as many people in poor areas as in rich ones.

Between March 1 and April 17, the poorest parts of England saw 55.1 coronavirus deaths per 100,000 population, compared with 25.3 deaths per 100,000 in the wealthiest areas.

An investigation by The Sun showed how Salford has become the coronavirus hotspot of the UK, with poverty stricken families living in crowded houses.

Last week it overtook London as the worst hit city for coronavirus rates against population in the UK, with 174 deaths - amounting to 113 per 100,000 people.

A relaxing of lockdown rules from today means friends and family members not living together are finally allowed to meet face-to-face.

But only two people can meet at a time, still must not hug and need to remain two metres apart.

On-the-spot fines for breaking social distancing rules have been raised from £60 to £100 with repeat offenders facing penalties of up to £3,200.

It comes amid fears lockdown is crumbling as more Brits venture out after eight weeks of being forced to stay home to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Last month, police beefed up patrols and distributed thousands of leaflets in different languages explaining the lockdown rules to Page Hall locals.

But footage following Monday's brawl showed hordes of people massed outside and ignoring social distancing, with one man bundled into a house.

A second film showed police vans and cars lining the street as cops swooped to restore order.

The anonymous neighbour said life in the area had become a "nightmare" during the lockdown and pleaded with locals to follow government guidelines.

She said: "I have been out of the house seven times since the lockdown has been in place.

"I’ve followed every rule the shops have and stayed the six-foot distance from others.

“I refuse to leave my home if there are too many people out and about on the streets and it sure doesn't help those with mental health issues.

“It's a scary time for everyone and this is what these people don't get."

Dad-of-three Jawad Saleem saw two boys trading blows on Monday night before locals poured out of their homes to watch.

Fights involving dozens of people happen often, with groups of youths play football outside his home, he claims.

Brazen yobs have flicked their middle fingers at him on one occasion, which he captured on camera.

Mr Saleem said: "It’s like a show for them. They are not following the rules and they are hiding from police when they’re out on their patrols.

“I’ve lived here three-and-a-half years and I have complained to the authorities. I’ve been recording videos all that time and I’m used to it being like this but I want to move from here.”

Last month, one former councillor urged cops to crack down on yobs who break the lockdown rules in the area.

Ibrar Hussain said: “Although the soft approach is good at times you have to be firmer because it's unfair for people who live there.

“They are frustrated and angry because these crowds could spread the virus."

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman has said it is a "small number who continue to flout restrictions".

A police spokesman said: “We received a call at 5.33pm on May 11 to reports of fighting on Popple Street in Sheffield.

“It is reported that a group of around 50 people were in the street causing disorder. Upon officers’ arrival, the group was dispersed and sent back to their properties.

“An ambulance was called for a 20-year-old woman, she was discharged on scene with minor injuries. Enquiries are on-going into an investigation of assault.”
