Zoe, a therapy technician at Rugby Hospital and Matthew, an engineer at Sky, have been left terrified after their vehicles were targeted outside their home in Bilton, Warwicks.

The horror attack took place on May 2 at 10.10pm, while Zoe, 26, and Matthew, 32, were playing a quiz on Zoom with friends.

Zoe said: “All we heard was this massive bang- I’ll never forget it, it was like an explosion.

“As we looked from our glass panels to the front door, everything was just bright orange.

“The van was parked on the pavement outside our house and my car was parked on our driveway and they had both turned into balls of fire.

'BALLS OF FIRE'

“The person who did it poured petrol from my car, all over the petrol tank of my car as well and poured it all over the pavement so the car, the van and the pavement were all in flames, just a big chain of fire."

The family worried the cars would explode and ran into their back garden for cover.

Zoe’s car boot had been filled with presents for daughter Darcie ahead of her third birthday just days later.

Zoe said: “We don’t know why it happened, we don’t know if they are going to come back.

“I am still petrified, it all happened so quickly and I still can’t believe it.

“Especially now with the lockdown, we have both been working really hard.

“What on earth we could have done that we are so unaware of to make someone that angry - we just don’t know why and that’s what we keep asking ourselves."

After the attack, the fire brigade had to install a special locked letterbox in the family’s house.

Matthew, who suffers from PTSD after being a fusilier in the army for ten years has had to up his medication while his daughter Darcie has been having nightmares.

A spokesperson for the Warwickshire Police said: “Enquiries ongoing and we’re appealing for witnesses.”
