PORTLAND, Ore. – An iconic sight will soon be back in its rightful place in downtown Portland .
Monday, crews installed the structure support for the “Portland sign” at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
In May, the sign was taken down for extensive renovations.
The 33-year-old sign will look about the same when it’s reinstalled.
But, it will have a fresh coat of pain and brighter neon letters.
The city will celebrate the renovated sign on August 16 with a re-lighting ceremony.
