Portland Police say they're looking for a homeless man wanted for attacking a couple with a metal baton at Poet's Beach late Tuesday afternoon.

A 51-year-old man and his 49-year-old wife brought their dog to Poet's Beach off SW River Parkway. They exchanged pleasantries with a homeless couple at a tent nearby.

Several hours later, the homeless couple "expressed anger that their dog was off-leash, playing in the water." The homeless man went back inside the tent, brought out a metal baton and attacked the couple.

The suspect fled the area. The woman who was attacked was hospitalized via an ambulance, and her husband drove himself to the hospital. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a white man in his 30s, standing 6'3", weighing 240 pounds, and the dog he had with him was a pit bull.

If you have any information, call police.
