Here’s some cool news for fans of DC Comics, as well as fans of the gradual splintering of the television experience: DC Entertainment will launch an unnamed “digital streaming service” next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The service will be home to the third season of Warner Bros.’ animated Young Justice series (the first two seasons aired on Cartoon Network from 2011 to 2013), as well as a new live-action adaptation of DC’s Titans comics. Details are slim on the new show, and the road to production has been a little stilted: TNT passed on the show last January after ordering a pilot in 2014.

Greg Berlanti, best known for his Emmy-winning miniseries Political Animals and for his work on the CW’s Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, has signed on to write and produce Titans alongside Akiva Goldsman, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind (he also wrote Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and Batman & Robin). DC Comics’ Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter are listed as executive producers, and Johns will help write the series. In all, it’s a stacked lineup of people with tons of superhero experience.

Like the ‘60s comics, the show will be centered around Dick Grayson (as Robin or Nightwing) and a pack of teen superheroes. The series will have a huge roster of potential characters to pull from, including Starfire, Raven, Wondergirl, and Super Boy, among others.

Beyond the 2018 launch year, almost nothing is known about the streaming service, which Warner Bros. described to The Hollywood Reporter as an “immersive experience designed just for DC fans."
