NYC Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Mobile Threat Detection App

The City-Funded “NYC Secure” App Provides Cybersecurity AND Privacy Protections

NEW YORK--()--New York City Cyber Command announced today that it has launched NYC Secure, a free mobile threat protection app that provides New Yorkers with the ability to identify and defend against mobile security threats. The app was previously announced as a part of Mayor de Blasio’s NYC Secure initiative, a pioneering cybersecurity initiative aimed at protecting New Yorkers online.

The City-funded app provides on-device mobile threat protection not previously accessible for personal use because the City of New York believes that security tools and resources should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford them.

The NYC Secure app does not require an Internet connection to detect a threat, so alerts are immediate. The app also does not require access to any personally identifiable information to function, so it does not collect or transmit any of this sensitive data.

The app was engineered with a privacy-first approach to mobile threat protection, so the app helps protect you without collecting or transmitting any information about you. New York City believes that people should be able to protect themselves without sacrificing their private information to do so.

Now available for Android and iOS mobile devices, NYC Secure is free to download and free to use for the people of New York City. To download the app, please visit:
