Xiaomi confirms Mi Mix 2s with Snapdragon 845 SoC

Xiaomi was long rumoured to launch a successor to its bezel-less smartphone the Mi Mix2. But a new teaser confirms that the Mi Mix 2s will come with a Snapdragon 845 chipset. Though, this detail was already known courtesy of several leaks in the past and Xiaomi itself had been hinting this through its twitter posts. But now, through a video posted on miaopai, it has confirmed the same.

In the twitter post, Xiaomi announced that the phone will launch on March 27 and it has an Antutu score of the 273741. The phone in question is off course the Mi Mix 2S, now that the company has confirmed this and the fact that it will run Snapdragon 845.

Mi Mix 2s will be Xiaomis first smartphone to run the top-end chip, and compete directly with flagship devices from Samsung and Sony.

The phone is rumoured to come with a bezel-less design and so far only leaked renders have given a glimpse of how the phone may look. It is expected to improve on several things that Mi Mix 2 couldnt entice the fans with, primarily the front camera placement and the rear camera quality among other things, apart from several new additions. Mi Mix 2 achieved a screen-to-body ratio of about 81 per cent, without the notch that is.

And though the display has very thin bezels, rumours say there wont be any iPhone X-style notch that phones like the OnePlus 6 and the Huawei P20 are rumoured to come with. Mi Mix 2s may still have an improved screen-to-body ratio and will use a 6.01 inch OLED panel from Samsung. A recent post on Weibo claimed both upcoming Xiaomi phones, the Mi 7 and the Mix 2S will boast OLED displays.

Also, the fingerprint scanner on the phone is said to go underneath the glass, something similar to what Vivo showcased with its Apex concept smartphone at MWC. The leaked renders of the Mi Mix 2S also hint that the phone will come with the single camera on the back and the front camera goes on the top right corner.

There is no word on when the phone may arrive in India, if at all Xiaomi plans to launch it here. If it does, it may get a similar price tag as that of the Mix 2 at Rs 35,999.
