Facebook just stole from another Social network, but only Indonesia noticed

Finally, Facebook's dislike solution has been announced and executed (http://bit.ly/ReactionsFacebook). But lots of people 'desperately' like to press the dislike button. Especially in Indonesia we thought it's a Joke-owi. But why?

Following you can see Facebook's newly introduced "Reactions". (Updated 26.2.2016)

Looks great on the first view and I was applying the "Wow"-Emoticon in real life. Everything is covered in terms of expressing emotion.

But following you can see the Path's emoticons that are used since 2012 (!).

Mark Zuckerburglar? My real life emoticon was slightly shifting to the "HaHa" (or "Ngakak") one, because the new "Reactions" function is copied and inspired by the leading social media platform in and only in Indonesia: Path. (http://bit.ly/LinkToPath)  With more than 5 million users, Indonesians have successively shifted from Facebook to Path and use it as their main social hub  (Reasons in my  next article)

Did Facebook just notice that especially Asian markets engagement rate are dropping and want to compensate the not officially decrease in engagement?

Is Path, even though their userbase is small, a role model of engagement for Facebook? And is Indonesia setting the social media trends of the future?

Exciting time to come, not only my Path community has mixed "feelings" :-)

Happy to discuss in the comment section! Because Indonesia is so more social, connect via Instagram or Twitter @FredNeust

Exactly what I was thinking when they announced it at the first time! Most of Indonesians probably noticed as well because Path is already like a daily dose for most of people here. It looks more like copycatting to me than inspired but yet copycatting doesn't seem like a really big deal these days with all the technologies improving really fast which requires the social media/network developers need to step up the pace on giving more new features in order to compete and survive on this industry.
