Windows 95 running on an Xbox One is the ultimate in backwards compatibility

Windows 95 is slowly turning into the operating system people use to prove modern devices can run anything. We've seen Windows 95 running on both the Apple Watch and an Android Wear smartwatch, and now someone has managed to get it running on an Xbox One. It's a slightly less impressive feat compared to a wrist-worn computer, but it's the ultimate demonstration of backwards compatibility.

YouTube user vcfan managed to get Windows 95 running on an Xbox One thanks to a universal version of the Dosbox app. Microsoft is currently allowing developers to create special universal apps for Windows 10 that will run on the Xbox One, and you'd need to enable developer mode on a console to get this app to run at all. It's not something we'll likely see in the Xbox One Store once a full range of apps launch this summer, but it's still fun to watch the Xbox One boot Windows 95 and run Duke Nukem 3D. Nostalgia, you can't beat it.
