WhatsApp's group voice and video calling features are now available

Earlier this year, WhatsApp let it be known they had plans to make group voice and video calling features available to everyone and now, those features have gone live across their Android and iOS apps. In a blog post announcing the rollout, WhatsApp highlighted that their users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day through the service.

You can make a group call with up to four people total - anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new "add participant" button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.

Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we've designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions. The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app.

Given I'm not a WhatsApp user, I haven't had the chance to try out any of the new features, so let me know in the comments if you've checked them out and share how well they're working for you. If you're not seeing the options available, make sure you have that latest WhatsApp installed.
