'Explore Parts Unknown’ Dives Further Into Locales With Anthony Bourdain

Anthony Bourdain has made a name for himself as a not only a traveling connoisseur of food but as a guide through which we learn about different cultures and cities. Only so much actually makes it into an episode of his show Parts Unknown, so a new accompanying site takes his travelogues even further.

Explore Parts Unknown is a travel site that’s meant to go along with episodes in the show and take you deeper. The site recently launched, so while it does have enough destinations to keep you busy for a couple hours, not every location from the show has been added yet. From the poking around I did, the site gives you two main routes: if you have a destination in mind and want Bourdain’s background info or if you just want to check out some content inspired by his travels on the show.

If your destination is already on the site (and new destinations are added weekly), you can see a “perfect day” with specific recommendations of where to eat (and what to order), what to visit, and background information that helps you understand the place you’re visiting. Beyond articles, you can also check out videos, which can give you an idea of what a place is really like — always helpful when preparing for a trip.

If you don’t have travel planned anytime soon, you can still use the site to get classic recipes for different cultures or check out articles that dive into lesser known information about a place (like how spring rolls ended up as a common snack in Senegal). If you’re a fan of “Parts Unknown”, this site is well worth your time to extend the travel experience the show gives you.
